Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island called West Island. Many people who don't know the name mistakenly believe that the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually it is the West Island includes everything westward from the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is commonly known as the place where she was born. However, she only was there for a brief period of time. Brugel became a young woman in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. When she was a child, she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected increase in her height made it difficult. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was 6 foot 1 inch tall. When I grew out of my male partners, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In the case of Brugel, it was the encouragement of her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her in the direction she needed. The teacher suggested she try getting a part in the school's annual production. She was chosen to play the lead part of Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. The show was granted the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program and graduated at the age of 20 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has landed roles on over 60 shows on small and big screens, attracting the greatest attention when she landed the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale, a series that was filmed over ten years ago.
